Reliable, Secure & Efficient File Server Migrations With CopyRight2

Image of Sys-Manage CopyRight2 Server Migration Software Box CopyRight2 is Sys-Manage's file server migration tool enabling you to reliably, securely and efficiently migrate network file shares, files, folders, NTFS and share permissions, group and user accounts (including passwords) from source to destination servers, storage solutions or the cloud.
The source and target file servers can be domain members, domain controllers or systems configured for workgroup mode.
It is the #1 file server migration solution with the most features and most responsive support (24/7) at the best price point you will find on the market for migration tools.

Migrations Within Same and Cross-Domain Boundaries

It supports migrations within the same domain or across domain boundaries, for example in case of mergers and acquisitions or IT restructuring purposes.

Support for Server and NAS Consolidation Scenarios

The distinct possibility to properly apply prefixes and suffixes to account and network share names to resolve naming conflicts, helps to reduce costs by facilitating the consolidation of servers.

No Downtime for Mission Critical Data

Use the real-time synchronization feature to eliminate user downtime traditionally associated with data migrations during the cut-over phase. You can either leave the software running, to continuously replicate critical data or even halt it and resume the synchronization without any considerable delays at a later time.
Opposed to traditional migration methods, like robocopy or xcopy for example, it will pick up where it left off without having to recursively traverse the directory tree structure again. This is where most of the necessary time is typically spent for delta copies. Even if little or none of the data to migrate has been changed since the last execution of the copy job.
This enhanced feature is extremely valuable for the migration of mission critical data resources that cannot remain unavailable for write access over a prolonged period of time.

Hash Validation of Copied Data

CopyRight2's unique possibility to validate the integrity of migrated files using a variety of different hash algorithms (MD4, MD5, RIPEMD, SHA1, SHA2, SHA3) ensures your valuable data remains intact. No information is corrupted or lost during the transmission.

Optimized for Low Bandwidth & High Latency WAN Connections

A built-in block level protocol optionally allows byte level synchronization over high latency WAN connections, for example to migrate to your hosting provider, the cloud or between separate clouds.

Template Based Rollout Planning Feature

CopyRight2 is a comprehensive file server migration solution adequately supporting you in your initial pre-planning stage up to the actual migration phase. The innovative template based roll-out planning feature will optionally assist you to accelerate the performance of larger scale migrations.

Support for Clusters & Wide Variety of NAS Vendors

DFS Support

It optionally supports the use of Microsoft's distributed file system (DFS) to migrate even the biggest file servers or storage systems share-by-share, while transparently maintaining access to the original UNC namespace. You can either use your existing DFS installation or utilize a "DFS Share Consolidation" job to populate a new DFS server with your existing network file shares automatically.
CopyRight2 supports domain-based and stand-alone DFS configuration. For higher availability Microsoft supports the installation of stand-alone configured DFS as a clustered resource. This specific configuration is supported by CopyRight2 as well.

Offline Migration Feature for Disconnected File Servers

If necessary, the offline migration feature, allows migrations of data and accounts between systems not physically connected. You can export users, groups, file shares and data along with permissions into files and import those on the target side at a later time.

Automatic and Selective Migration of User and Group Accounts

During the migration of NTFS permissions or file share permissions, CopyRight2 automatically detects if any referenced user or group accounts are non-existent on the target computer or domain.
Depending on the selected settings, it will then automatically migrate the missing accounts or prompt the user to decide how to appropriately treat those accounts. In case you want to separate the account from the resource migration, you can selectively migrate specific user and/or group accounts by defining a "User and Group Migration" job.
This applies to the migration of server or NAS local accounts, like local users and groups and to migrations taking place between Active Directory domains.
Additionally you can transition from an AGLP (User Account -> Global Group -> Server Local Group -> Permission) to an AGDLP (User Account -> Global Group -> Domain Local Group -> Permission) role-based access control (RBAC) model by simply activating an option in your copy job settings. This allows you to get rid of server or NAS local groups during the migration to centrally administrate resource access in the future.

Distributed Collection of Infrastructure Information

CopyRight2 includes an InfraStructure Reporting Feature allowing you to gather all necessary information required for a successful migration about the source environment from your file servers and domain controllers.

RDP and Roaming User Profiles

The integrated migration feature for user profiles will make sure that terminal (RDP) users and roaming profile users can login right away to their familiar environment once they are migrated. The product will automatically translate persistent network connections, update shortcuts and the most recently used file lists stored in the profile on-the-fly while copying the data.

Intuitive Graphical User Interface

The intuitive graphical user interface enables you to instantly create a copy job for a file server migration, by simply selecting the source and destination folders or entire drives. Or define a computer or Active Directory scan job to gather live data for planning purposes in the format of your choice (Text, Microsoft Access, Microsoft SQL Server).
All jobs created with the GUI can be run unattended and at a chosen date and time or specified interval by relying on its integrated scheduling abilities.
Beside of the graphical user interface, it is seamlessly integrated with Windows Explorer and additionally offers a command line interface very similar to the built-in xcopy command.

Does it satisfy my migration's requirements?
Does it satisfy my migration's requirements?
To put it short. Yes. In more detail, it supports:
  • file server, Active Directory and IIS HTTP/FTP server migrations.
  • migrations between systems configured for workgroup mode, as domain members or domain controllers and any possible combination of those, for example from a system configured for workgroup mode to a domain member.
  • migrations within the same or across different domains, with/without trust relationships and with/without sidHistory.
  • Windows® servers (certified for Windows® 2000 up to Windows® 2019) and a wide variety of network attached storage (NAS) solutions, such as NetApp®, EMC®, Hitachi®, Synology®, Linux Samba and more as source and target.
  • consolidations, for example a migration from 2 source systems onto 1 target system, including methods to resolve naming conflicts.
  • Windows® cluster services as source and/or target.
  • LAN/MAN/WAN migration scenarios.
  • offline migrations, where source and target are not connected at all.
  • large scale migration scenarios using the built-in rollout planning feature.
  • for MAN/WAN scenarios a block transfer mode, similar to Rsync, reusing existing data on the target if only a few bytes of a file changed, instead of copying the whole file again.
  • share-by-share migrations while maintaining the UNC namespace, utilizing Windows® distributed file system (DFS).
  • a real-time synchronization feature reducing the timeframe needed for the cut-over to minutes. You can literally perform the migration during lunch break if needed.
  • an optional comparison report for files, folders and permissions to properly document the success of your migration.
  • ...

How is CopyRight2 Licensed?
How is CopyRight2 Licensed?
There are 3 types of licenses:
  • The CopyRight2 Standard Edition is licensed per source and target system (server or NAS). Once a license is activated it cannot be moved to another system. Licenses of target systems can be re-used when those systems become the source of the next migration again. Prices include 2 years of warranty, free updates/upgrades and 24/7 support via email, telephone or Cisco WebEx. For example, if you want to migrate 2 source systems onto 1 target system, you would need 3 single licenses of CopyRight2 Standard Edition.
  • The CopyRight2 Enterprise Edition has a one time fee for unlimited activations and ships with 10 support cases.
  • The CopyRight2 Midrange Edition has a one time fee for up to 50 activations per year and ships with 5 support cases.
