- Question: I installed Scription but somehow the client will not
run.
Answer: Did you assign a logon script to the users as described ?
Please read the readme.txt file first. Then check the document
"Troubleshooting Scription" which
contains useful information on isolating the error.
- Question: I assigned some settings together with rules but they will never get
executed.
Answer: Do they work if you assign them by using the '*' symbol ? If so, check if the
rule you specified is correct. If you specify for example 2 user names and
combine them with an AND operator, the setting will never get execute. The confusion might
be the result of the common use of this word to enumerate objects. For
example: This setting
should apply to this user and this user and this user.
Actually combining them with an AND operator, would require them to login both at the same
time, which is impossible in this case.
Using an OR operator will solve this problem easily.
The AND operator would be usefull to check for example the user's membership in two groups
he has to be a member of, as a condition. For example the rule: G_Marketing &&
G_CasualLabor,
which woule only be satisfied, if the user is a member of G_Marketing and
G_CausalLabor.
- Question: Will I have to reinstall everything and reenter the configuration settings after I purchased
the product ?
Answer: No, all your existing configuration settings will be
preserved.
Anyway it is recommended that you update with the CD you receive, if it contains a newer
BUILD version (check README.TXT for that).
- Question: Can I distribute Software to my machines using Scription ?
Answer: Sure you can. Scription supports Software distribution to all platforms !
- Question: Does Scription 2.62 support Windows XP already ?
Answer: Yes, it does. Update to at least BUILD number 167 to ensure you have the latest fixes included !
